Power Tech Nexus · Product Engineering
We are looking for a QA / Test Automation Engineer to make sure every release across web, mobile and API is one we trust. You will build the automated test suites and release gates that let a small team ship often without breaking things, including for AI features, whose outputs vary from run to run.

About Power Tech Nexus
Power Tech Nexus is the product company of the Power Tech group. We build and run our own AI-driven software products for businesses in Australia and the region. We are a small team growing deliberately, so every hire shapes how the product and the engineering practice turn out.
What you will do
- Build and maintain automated end-to-end tests for web (Playwright) and mobile (Flutter integration tests)
- Build API and contract tests for backend services
- Run tests in GitHub Actions as release gates, and keep the suites fast and reliable
- Wire the AI engineers' evaluation suites into the release gates, and add regression checks that tolerate harmless variation in AI output
- Run exploratory testing before major releases
- Report defects clearly and track quality trends
Technical Requirements
Must-have
- Three or more years in test automation for web applications
- Strong Playwright (or Cypress) in TypeScript or JavaScript
- API and contract testing for REST services, with test data management
- Automated suites running as CI gates (GitHub Actions or similar), including finding and fixing flaky tests
- Mobile test automation, ideally Flutter integration tests (or Appium or Maestro)
- Clear defect reports a developer can act on without follow-up questions
Desirable
- Testing LLM or AI features: evaluation sets and checks for non-deterministic output
- Performance or load testing (k6 or similar)
- Security testing basics (OWASP Top 10)
- Vitest or Jest unit testing
- ISTQB or similar
Who you will work with
- Senior AI Engineers: own the AI evaluation datasets and metrics; you own the gates they run in
- Functional tester and BAs: cover functional and user acceptance testing; you own automation
- Developers: own unit and widget tests
How we work
- Small, senior team with a short path from idea to production
- AI-assisted engineering is part of the daily workflow, not an experiment
- Azure-first, with AWS where a product needs it. All infrastructure is code (Bicep or Terraform), changed through reviewed pull requests in GitHub, never by hand in the portal
- Security is built in from the start: we are ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified and are implementing ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management
- Done means deployed and verified running, not merged
- We write things down: runbooks, decisions and handovers
