• Design and build RESTful AI APIs in FastAPI, implementing full CRUD (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE) resources. 

• Define request/response schemas, validation, and serialization using Pydantic models. 

• Integrate AWS Bedrock foundation models and other LLM services behind clean, versioned API contracts. 

• Design async, non-blocking endpoints for high-throughput and streaming AI workloads. 

• Deploy and scale API services on AWS EC2 and Lambda, including auto-scaling and load-balancing configuration. 

• Build and orchestrate data-processing workflows on AWS EMR to support AI pipelines. 

• Implement authentication, authorization, rate-limiting, and API versioning (e.g. OAuth2, JWT, API keys). 

• Write automated tests (unit, integration, load) and maintain OpenAPI/Swagger documentation. 

• Implement caching, connection pooling, and performance tuning for scalable, low-latency APIs. 

• Set up CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and observability for API services in production. 

Required Skills & Experience 

• Strong Python and backend software-engineering fundamentals. 

• Hands-on production experience building REST APIs with FastAPI, including full CRUD endpoint design. 

• Strong command of Pydantic for data validation, schema modelling, and serialization. 

• Hands-on experience with AWS Bedrock for generative AI / LLM integration. 

• Practical experience with AWS EC2, Lambda, and EMR for hosting and scaling API and data workloads. 

• Solid understanding of async Python (asyncio, async/await) for high-concurrency API design. 

• Experience with API security, authentication/authorization, and rate-limiting patterns. 

• Experience with cloud-native deployment, containerisation (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code. 

• Understanding of API scalability patterns: load balancing, caching, horizontal scaling, and queuing. 

Desirable 

• Experience with GenAI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI or similar) and RAG architectures. 

• Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, pgvector). 

• API gateway experience (AWS API Gateway) and event-driven architectures (SQS, SNS, EventBridge). 

• MLOps / LLMOps tooling and model monitoring.

Power Tech Consulting (PTC) is your partner in data, AI and enterprise transformation, working across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore and India. We are building a new Odoo practice to serve clients across the region, with the ambition to be a genuinely AI-powered practice: using tools like Claude alongside our own proprietary methodologies to implement Odoo better, faster and cheaper, and to support clients afterwards with real context of their own implementation.

The Opportunity

Power Tech Consulting is building a brand-new Odoo practice to serve clients across Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore - with more regions to follow as opportunities arise. This is not simply an implementation shop: our ambition is to become a genuinely AI-powered Odoo practice - using widely available AI tools (such as Claude) alongside proprietary tools and methodologies we build ourselves to implement Odoo better, faster and cheaper for clients. The same tools and implementation context our team builds during delivery will power AI-assisted support services after go-live, giving clients a level of ongoing support a generic partner simply can't match.

Our first proving ground is real and urgent: Fiji's new VAT Monitoring System (VMS) requires retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers to move onto an accredited point-of-sale and fiscal-reporting solution, and we are building Odoo's accreditation and chasing the first wave of Fijian clients. It's the first of many engagements this practice will take on across the region.

This is a hands-on, player-coach role. In the practice's earliest days there is no separate functional or technical team to delegate to - you are that team. You will personally run client workshops, configure Odoo, and get your hands dirty on the technical build (including the Fiji VMS integration) exactly as a dedicated Functional Consultant and Technical Consultant would. As client demand grows, you will hire good people into those roles, hand off the day-to-day delivery work you started doing yourself, and shift your own focus to building and leading the practice. We need someone who can genuinely walk the talk.

This is a start-up environment - a brand-new team and a brand-new practice, built from nothing. We are deliberately building an A-grade team, not filling bench seats in a B-grade one: we need someone who takes ownership and drives things forward, not someone waiting to be handed a playbook.

Key Responsibilities

Right now: you are the delivery team

•     Personally lead end-to-end Odoo implementations for our first clients - client workshops, requirements, functional configuration (POS, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Accounting) and UAT - exactly as a dedicated Functional Consultant eventually will.

•     Get hands-on with the technical build where needed - custom development, integrations, and the Fiji VMS accreditation work (fiscal invoicing, certificate-based device communication) - exactly as a dedicated Technical Consultant eventually will.

•     Make the early technical and hosting calls for clients (Odoo.sh, self-hosted/on-premise, security) until a dedicated Technical Consultant is in place to own this properly.

•     Deliver end-user training, documentation and go-live/day-two support personally - there is no one else to hand it to yet.

As the practice grows: build and lead the team

•     Hire, onboard and mentor dedicated Odoo Functional and Technical Consultants as client demand justifies it, and hand off the functional and technical delivery work you started doing yourself.

•     Build the practice's delivery methodology, templates, ways of working and the standard the team is held to - grounded in what you learn delivering the first engagements with your own hands.

•     Own end-to-end delivery management across a growing portfolio of Odoo engagements - planning, resourcing, budgets, risk and client governance.

•     Drive adoption of AI-powered tools and methodologies across the practice - both generally available tools (e.g. Claude) and tools we build ourselves - to make implementations faster, cheaper and better, and to power AI-assisted client support after go-live.

•     Coordinate delivery across time zones and markets - Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and beyond - so the right people are working on the right thing at the right time.

•     Own delivery of the practice's flagship engagement - Fiji VMS accreditation and the first wave of Fijian retail clients - including managing the dependency between accreditation and client go-lives.

•     Act as the escalation point for delivery issues and represent the practice to Power Tech Consulting leadership.

•     Contribute to pre-sales - scoping, estimating and reviewing proposals - alongside the wider sales team.

•     Identify and pursue new regional opportunities for the practice beyond the first engagement.

What You'll Bring

Essential

•     10+ years' experience in IT/ERP delivery, with genuine hands-on functional AND technical depth on Odoo (or a comparable ERP) - not purely a manager who has overseen delivery from a distance.

•     Have personally played an active, hands-on role - functional, technical, or ideally both - in at least one full end-to-end ERP implementation.

•     Able and willing to personally deliver Odoo functional configuration and basic technical build work in the practice's early days, before dedicated Functional and Technical Consultants are hired.

•     Demonstrated experience running multiple concurrent client engagements with competing priorities and deadlines.

•     Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable working across cultures and time zones.

•     Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. Claude) in daily delivery work, and genuinely curious about how AI changes the way ERP is implemented and supported.

•     Driven, switched-on and an excellent communicator, written and verbal.

•     A genuine builder's mindset - someone who can walk the talk, roll up their sleeves personally, and has built or grown something before, not just maintained it.

Desirable

•     Formal project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or a recognised Agile/Scrum qualification).

•     Prior experience managing a consulting practice or standing up a new delivery capability from scratch.

•     Deep hands-on technical background (e.g. Odoo development) if your core experience leans functional, or vice versa - the more combined functional and technical depth, the better.

•     Exposure to retail/distribution clients, and to tax/compliance-driven implementations (VAT, fiscal devices, payroll).

•     Experience or strong interest in web development, e-commerce or self-hosted infrastructure - this practice does that work too.

•     Willingness to work outside pure Odoo delivery when practice workload is light - we assess skills holistically, not just against Odoo experience.

What Success Looks Like

•     In the first 90 days: personally running the functional configuration (and technical build where needed) on our flagship Fiji engagement, delivery governance is in place, and you have a credible view on when the practice can justify its first dedicated Functional or Technical Consultant hire.

•     Within year one: has personally delivered at least ten (10) full Odoo implementation end to end, hired and handed off functional and/or technical delivery to dedicated consultants, built a reusable AI-assisted delivery methodology, and has a credible pipeline into at least one new market beyond Fiji.
